Dear Mummies: 3 Tips to Cope With Postpartum Weight

Dealing with postpartum weight can put a toll on you physically and mentally. The constant feeling and pressure of wanting to go back to pre-pregnancy weight can be too much at time. It is not impossible to go back to your pre-pregnancy weight, but it will take a lot of effort, time, dedication, and consistency - which as a new mum, something that you might not have. But it is okay! It is not necessary to go back to your pre-pregnancy weight. The most important thing would be to be a healthy (or healthier) version of yourself, physically and mentally. Even if it means being a bigger version of yourself at this moment.


To do that, here are 3 tips to cope with postpartum weight!


1. Have an exercise routine

We’ve always emphasized on doing consistent light exercises instead of inconsistent heavy lifting exercises to keep the morale up. We recommend starting slow and incorporating the exercises to your daily life, such as going for a walk for 15 minutes and then slowly increasing to a 30 minutes walk and eventually, maybe you’ll be power walking through your neighbourhood and even running! Of course, that is just an example. Do something that works for you. It will majorly affect your body in the long run.

2. Keep a healthy diet

As much as it is important for you to maintain a healthy diet whilst you were pregnant, it is equally important for you to continue maintaining the healthy diet post pregnancy. Your body would thank you for that. With proper healthy food intake, your body will be able to absorb the nutrients that it needs which will affect you positively both mentally and physically.
